What we offer
Market Place Print Studio is located in Cockermouth on the edge of the Lake District National Park. The studio offers printmaking workshops as well as classes in other mediums. Look at our Workshops for upcoming dates or read about personalised group bookings. We have a large printing press that can be used for printing etchings, monoprint, linocuts and woodblocks. We offer courses for beginners and advanced level as well as open access for experienced printmakers. The space is run by artists Jack Fawdry Tatham and Emily Fairlie Baker. -
Printmaker
Jack has worked as a printmaker for many years, focusing primarily on copper plate etching. Alongside this inky practice, Jack also works in the medium of egg tempera painted on gessoed boards.
Jack likes to work with these traditional mediums because of their strong associations with the past.

"I am drawn to the stories and imagery of folk and traditional crafts and enjoy creating textiles and pictures that blur the line between domestic item and work of art”

“A brilliant addition to Cockermouth, we did a Lino cut workshop which was a great way to spend a day. Jack is hugely knowledgeable and skilled with printing and he helped people without an artistic bone produce some amazing prints. Thoroughly recommended!”

“It was a very informative and hands on course, during which I learnt about all the different types of printing and went through the whole process of etching and was very pleased with my first etches! Jack is an excellent tutor and delivers the course in a friendly and relaxed manner, I enjoyed it immensely!”
