Open Access is for printmakers to use the facilities to develop their own personal artwork or projects without tuition. Book using the form below. Adequate printmaking experience and knowledge is a must to use the studio in this way. We have a large printing press (approx 60cm x 120xm) that can print etchings, linocuts, woodblocks and monoprints. We have a hotplate and etching baths for copper (ferric chloride) or zinc (copper sulphate). You could simply use the space to carve lino or wood and reflect on your image.

The studio can also be used for other creative projects so please email us if you have a project you would like to develop in a reflective, creative work environment.

A health and safety induction is required for all artists. This will be part of your first Open Access booking. We need to feel confident that artists can use the equipment safely and respectfully. For anyone (even those with previous experience) wanting to do Etching, we require you to also attend 1 of our Etching workshops due to the added safety considerations of this process.

Open Access requirements for Etching: Compete 1 course in Etching + the health and safety induction

Experienced printmakers who have completed a course and/or induction with us and less experienced printmakers who can show us, through attending courses, that they can use the facilities safely.

We will provide tools such as brayers, scrim, newsprint, etching and lino tools. You will need to bring your own paper and inks. We will have a stock of some printmaking papers for sale as well as metal plates. A contribution toward ink can be made if you don’t bring your own.

£15 for half day (3 hrs) or £25 for the full day (6 hrs). These slots are 10-1pm and 2pm-5pm.
