Print a Cumbrian Farm - half day - 3rd August 2024

£45.00

½ day course, Saturday 3rd August, 13:00-16:30, £45, Suitable for all levels

This is Summer Special and is suitable for 10 yrs plus. Anyone under 16yrs must be joined by an adult on the course. This class it suitable for 10 years old to 100 years old. To reiterate, this workshop is suitable for adults too, we won’t be singing Old Macdonald had a Farm (unless the mood takes us).

Using recycled Tetra Pak packaging* we will explore this emerging thrifty way of printing by creating a Cumbrian fellside farm scene complete with Herdwicks, dry stone walls, local wildlife and farm dogs.

You will produce independent prints as well as a group collaboration where we will combine our Tetra Pak’s together to create a larger, more diverse farm.

*Tetra Pak is the packaging for drinks and foods like Oat Milk and passata. During this one day class we will look at examples of Tetra Pak printing, explore practical tips on how to achieve different marks and textures and print a small edition of prints.

This is a very environmentally friendly way to printmake as it recycles a waste material and requires little prep or extra materials. We just draw straight onto the surface using a dry point with sharp pointed tools.

All materials provided but would be great if you could bring your own recycled Tetra Pak - just rinse them out before!

What to bring with you

  • Cleaned Tetra Pak if you have any (oat milk and passata come in tetra pak) but we will provide lots as well.

  • Clothes that you don’t mind getting ink on. Although we will be using water based inks and we have aprons, it’s best to wear clothes that are not precious.

  • Ideas - Please bring with you an image or art work you would like to use as inspiration or to transfer to your tetra pak. If you don’t bring an idea or inspiration for your print don’t worry because we have lots of inspirational books and ideas we use as tools for developing an image. But as we have a lot to fit in on the day, it can help to bring along a pre conceived image to make into a print.

  • Packed lunch - Tea and coffee is provided. Bring your own packed lunch or eat at one of the independent local cafes and bakeries.

What you’ll leave with at the end of the day

Edition(s) of your print
