In this workshop we will explore using Tetra Pak for printmaking. Tetra Pak is the packaging used for things like oat milk and passata. You can carve, cut and dent the surface using different sharp tools to create tonal, textured prints. It is also great for collaging with because you can cut shapes out and then print them in any configuration you choose. Tetra Pak printing particularly lends itself to architectural imagery because the shape of the packaging is often square and rectangular but you can also cut out any shape you wish. If you can’t visualise how this might work, all the more reason to come along and learn!

Please do bring a long any clean tetra pak if you have any. Otherwise, we should have plenty.

What to bring with you

  • Cleaned Tetra Pak if you have any (oat milk and passata come in tetra pak) but we will provide lots as well.

  • Clothes you don’t mind getting ink on. Although we will be using water based inks and we have aprons, it’s best to wear clothes that are not precious.

  • Ideas - Please bring with you an image or art work you would like to use as inspiration or to transfer to your tetra pak. If you don’t bring an idea or inspiration for your print don’t worry because we have lots of inspirational books and ideas we use as tools for developing an image. But as we have a lot to fit in on the day, it can help to bring along a pre conceived image to make into a print.

  • Packed lunch - Tea and coffee is provided. Bring your own packed lunch or eat at one of the independent local cafes and bakeries.

What you’ll leave with at the end of the day

Edition(s) of your print
