Join us for this festive day workshop where we will be printing traditional toy theatres from our archive of original, Victorian printing plates! Emily and Jack used to run Pollock’s Toy Museum, a museum famous for victorian toy theatres by Mr Pollock. These 3D paper theatres were popular in Victorian times with their brilliant designs, colourful decoration and dramatic storylines. Now, they are often used as decorations at Christmas Time or to perform mini theatrical shows for family over the festive period.

Printing a toy theatre from the archive

12:00-13:00

Lunch

13:00-16:00

Colouring, cutting and constructing toy theatres

We will provide all the materials for the course.

What to bring with you

Clothes that you don’t mind getting ink on. Although we will be using water based inks and we have aprons, it’s best to wear clothes that are not precious.

Feel free to bring snacks! Tea and coffee provided.

What you’ll leave with at the end of the day

Your own handprinted and coloured toy theatre

Cancellation Policy

If you cancel your booking more than3 weeks in advance we will provide a refund but it would be much better for our small business if you transfer your booking or accept a credit note. To cancel or transfer please email us at marketplaceprintstudio@gmail.com.

If you need to cancel your booking less that 3 weeks in advance we can only refund or transfer your booking in extenuating circumstances. Email us at marketplaceprintstudio@gmail.com to have a discussion about cancelling due to changes of plan out of your control.

If you let us know the day before or on the day of your booking that you can’t make it due to sickness or unexpected circumstances we can provide a credit note only or someone else can come in your place. Just drop us an email to let us know so we can update the booking information.

We reserve the right to cancel or postpone a workshop. If we do this we will try and give a weeks notice and will provide a full refund if you cannot attend the new dates.

Please note: The print studio has limited access and etching involves using hazardous chemicals. The print room environment is not suitable for everyone. Etching classes are unsuitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women, those sensitive to chemicals or with breathing difficulties. Contact us if you need more information about the chemicals we use as part of the printing process.
