Print Like Picasso (Etching) - Saturday 21st March 2026

Spend a day immersed in the world of Picasso and his much celebrated series of etchings called the 'Vollard Suite'. The set of 100 etchings was produced between 1930 - 1937 and showcases the inspiration and themes of Picasso’s work as well as displaying a range of Intaglio techniques.
In this 1 day workshop we will study and discuss some highlights of the Vollard Suite, looking at the imagery, narrative and technical application.
Then, we will spend the rest of the day creating our own etchings directly copied from Picasso or our own images inspired by the collection.
Using metal plates, we will learn techniques like dry point and etching to create a small run of limited edition prints on the printing press by the end of the day.
We will provide all the materials for the day.
What to bring with you
Clothes that you don’t mind getting ink on. Although we will be using water based inks and we have aprons, it’s best to wear clothes that are not precious.
Ideas - Please bring with you an image or art work by Picasso you would like to use as inspiration. If you don’t bring an idea or inspiration for your print don’t worry because we have lots of inspirational books and ideas we use as tools for developing an image. But as we have a lot to fit in on the day, it can help to bring along a pre conceived image to make into a print.
Packed lunch - Tea and coffee is provided. Bring your own packed lunch or eat at one of the independent local cafes and bakeries.

We reserve the right to cancel or postpone a workshop. This will occasionally happen if we don’t have enough bookings to run the workshop or in extenuating circumstances. If we do this we will try and give as much notice as possible and will provide a full refund if you cannot attend the new dates.

Please note: The print studio has limited access and etching involves using hazardous chemicals. The print room environment is not suitable for everyone. Etching classes are unsuitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women, those sensitive to chemicals or with breathing difficulties. Contact us if you need more information about the chemicals we use as part of the printing process.
