Block Printed Cushion - Red Dots

£45.00

Block printed and hand sewn cotton cushions made by Emily Fairlie Baker at Market Place Print Studio, Cockermouth.

The base colours of the cotton have been naturally dyed by Emily using natural materials. This cushions pink fabric is dyed with Madder root and the grey fabric on the back is dyed with Comfrey from Emily and Jack’s allotment.

The cushion inserts are handmade to order in Sussex and filled with sustainable British sheep’s wool. These cushions feel plump and made to last.

Each stamp block has been carved by Emily from her own designs inspired by traditional Indian Block Printing or the nature in the surrounding Lake District countryside. Each block is inked up with soil association certified inks and then stamped onto the naturally dyed fabric by hand.

Colours may vary ever so slightly from the photographs. Imperfections from hand printing are a beautiful and expected part of block printing ~ we hope you enjoy the beauty of this as much as we do.

Care instructions

The inks have been set with an iron and the naturally dyed fabrics have undergone a lengthy process to ensure the dye is as wash and light fast as any synthetic dye. That said, all fabric benefits from as little washing as possible so spot clean when you can. If you do need to wash your cushion, remove the cushion cover and wash by hand or at maximum 30° degrees. Keep out of direct sunlight if possible because this will increase the chances of fading of any soft furnishings.
