Join us for a vibrant, under the sea themed, family-friendly workshop exploring the playful technique of Block Printing at Maryport Settlement.

There are three times available, 11am, midday and 1pm and the sessions run for approximately and 45mins.

We will explore colour, pattern-making, tessellation and repetition through the prism of block printing using lino and rubber stamps.

You will learn how to use our range of hand carved stamps to create effective patterns and see how patterns emerge in both the negative space and printed space.

You will learn how to ink up a block printing stamp using special inks and how to confidently thump down a stamp for a crisp, punchy print.

There will be a option to buy your own blank organic tote bags for you to print onto and take home, as well as lots of free paper to create your own posters and gift wrap as well as fabric squares to print your own patches.

We also invite you to bring anything you’d like to print on to such as an item of clothing that could do with a revamp, a notebook with a blank cover or anything else that’s flat and you don’t mind practicing on…

Please bring with you:

• Anything you’d like to block print onto such as an old item of clothing in need of a revamp

• Clothes you don’t mind getting messy or inky

We will provide:

• Organic cotton tote bags for an additional cost of £5

• Block printing stamps

• Inks, paper and fabric square
