23rd May 2026 - Lino Printing: Taking the Next Steps
1 Day Course, Saturday 23rd May, 10:00-16:00, £75, Beginner-Intermediate
Book all 4 spaces to get 20% off with code 4TOGETHERDAY
Go from beginner to intermediate in this full day lino printing workshop. If you’ve done a bit of lino printing already but want to take your skills to the next level, this is the workshop for you. Perfect for anyone whose attended our Intro to Lino workshop or who has experimented at home. This is an excellent opportunity to recap what you’ve already learnt with guidance to keep honing your skills and understanding.
Unlike our other lino workshops, you will be given a design to carve which has been especially chosen by Jack to develop your technique. We will expand our focus to not just take into account the areas of the block that will print but to also look at the negative space and how what you carve away can dramatically change light, tone and composition. We will be exploring the variety of marks that can be carved for different effects. You are also encouraged to bring along anything you’ve been working on or any questions you have about developing your printing practice.
We will provide all the materials for the day including a lino block, tools for cutting, ink and paper.
Upon completion of this course you will be able to book Open Access and Print Club (3rd Thursday evening every month) . These two affordable offerings are for those with experience printmaking (or attended a workshop) and want to use the studio to develop their artworks and keep on experimenting.
What to bring with you
Clothes that you don’t mind getting ink on. Although we will be using water based inks and we have aprons, it’s best to wear clothes that are not precious.
Packed lunch - Tea and coffee is provided. Bring your own packed lunch or eat at one of the independent local cafes and bakeries.
What you’ll leave with at the end of the day
Edition(s) of your print
Your carved lino block
Cancellation Policy
If you cancel your booking we will provide a credit note. To cancel please email us at marketplaceprintstudio@gmail.com.
We reserve the right to cancel or postpone a workshop. This will occasionally happen if we don’t have enough bookings to run the workshop or in extenuating circumstances. If we do this we will try and give as much notice as possible and will provide a full refund if you cannot attend the new dates.
Please note: The print studio has limited access and etching involves using hazardous chemicals. The print room environment is not suitable for everyone. Etching classes are unsuitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women, those sensitive to chemicals or with breathing difficulties.
