In this session we will be talking about different Natural Dyeing processes such as scouring, mordanting, modifying and dying vegetable fibres.
Practical Art is a series of evening demos and talks where we will be sharing practical skills for creatives. The series programme is as follows:
Weds 17th Sept- Egg Tempera Painting. A demo and practical experimentation of how to make egg tempera paints using egg yolk and pigment. Will touch on how to gesso a board using rabbit skin glue. One of the oldest forms of painting too so also doubles as a practical art history session - £20
Weds 24th Sept- Intro to Natural Dyeing. A talk and demo of the basics of natural dyeing vegetable fibres exploring the different processes such as scouring, mordanting, modifying - £15

We reserve the right to cancel or postpone a workshop. This will occasionally happen if we don’t have enough bookings to run the workshop or in extenuating circumstances. If we do this we will try and give as much notice as possible and will provide a full refund if you cannot attend the new dates.
Please note: The print studio has limited access and etching involves using hazardous chemicals. The print room environment is not suitable for everyone. Etching classes are unsuitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women, those sensitive to chemicals or with breathing difficulties. Contact us if you need more information about the chemicals we use as part of the printing process.
